When I was 16 years old, I bought my first car. It was a 1982 Honda Civic. After giving it a good washing and throwing some seat covers on it, I immediately drove it down to Haight Street. I walked into the corner hippie store on Haight and Ashbury where they sell at the Grateful Dead stuff and bought peace sign stickers, tie-die heart stickers and a Fukengruven sticker. I also bought a postcard of Haight Street back in the 60's and a pack of incense... I went back to my car plastered the stickers all over the place, placed the incense holder in the ashtray, lit the incense and VENUS was born, *VENUS* was my first expression of who I really was. I still lived at home and my car was the only thing I really owned and I made it mine. Hippie at heart? Hell YES! *** My first memories of that car also had to do with driving to the 18 and under nightclub the EDGE and changing outfits in the car. Venus really inspired me to wear bell bottoms, half shirts and braids in my hair. i still incorporate my early fashion influences into my now sophisticated steeelo.... (ha) Fashion and Cars? What this is leading up to.... I am not sure.. but Marina reminds me of my Venus days..... Who's Marina? -- - - --transition now..
When I first met Marina Fini, I was blown away by her style. She came in wearing short jean shorts, red knee high boots with the sweetest butterfly sleeved cape shirt I have ever seen. Her hair was golden and curly. She wore no make up and her energy was calm but enthusiastic. We clicked right away and I sat and thought to myself, she is VENUS! :)
Her reason for visiting was because she was interested in the STYLIST BOUTIQUE, but i come to find out that she is an amazing artist and we decided to have an event at the store featuring her digital media work...................
Fashion forward thinker Marina Fini presents a fashion show rooted in digital format.
She will be projecting her fashion designs in many formats such a animation and video while similtaneously mixing the two into some nifty optical illusions. OP ART runs a majority of the prints in that your clothing will become in motion, you are alive and so are your clothes! Anyone who wants to be apart of the fun should come dressed in light colored or white attire or you can come try on what we have in the store as well. You will be thrown into a virtual world of art and apart of history in the making of global primitive future couture... Sound interesting?
